Calendula Skin Heal Salve (50ml)
Fresh batch ready on 6 January 2025.
An exceptional ‘vulnerary’ wound healing plant, loved in herbal folklore as the ‘sunshine herb’ Calendula flowers have become well known for their skin and gut healing plant constituents (anti-inflammatory actions via the flavonoid quercetin) that have been shown to support the reduction of inflammation and assist in wound repair..
Calendula helps wounds to heal much more rapidly, prevents suppuration and stagnation of fluids, modulates any local inflammation, and prevents bacterial overgrowth and infection. The astringency helps to draw the wound together to heal it more rapidly and preventing excessive scar formation. It is quite specific in its treatment of damp/heat type wounds, where there is swelling, pus, redness and inflammation.
Evidence-based research suggests that when applied externally, Calendula can reduce signs and symptoms of contact dermatitis, acute inflammation, and 2nd/ 3rd degree burns. Some research indicates Calendula may have antibacterial and antifungal actions.
Uses: Topical skin healing salve. Repairs scarring, cuts, wounds, nappy rash, acne, contact dermatitis, burns, eczema and skin irritations and soreness.
Hand made process: Slow solar-infused whole flower oil is macerated in olive oil for 6 weeks, allowing a potent, deep extraction for gentle topical application to the face and body.
How Tamara uses: I have grown, made and used Calendula oil for 5ish years topically. Calendula is the first herbal oil I used/made and has changed my relationship to my skin . I apply this oil or salve throughout the week to my body, hands and face as a liquidy golden treat for my skin.
Contains: Calendula Officinalis (home-grown) infused oil, pure beeswax, extra virgin olive oil.
